WHAT 3D FILE FORMAT DO YOU REQUIRE FOR QUOTATIONS AND MANUFACTURING?
We currently use Solidworks CAD, and prefer a Solidworks part file, .stp file, or parasolid file (in order of preference). Drawings are preferred in .pdf format. Stl files are sufficient at the request for quote stage if you prefer not to share the preferred files listed above.
WHAT DO YOU REQUIRE TO MANUFACTURE PARTS?
We require a 3D CAD model minimum, drawings are not always necessary. Drawings may be necessary to communicate items which may not be included in the 3D CAD model — such as threads, tolerances, and notes. Parts can be inspected to the 3D CAD model but may require a drawing for the reasons listed above.
WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU WORK WITH?
Metal casting materials include most ferrous and non-ferrous materials including aluminum, iron, steel, and magnesium. Solid stock materials include any plastic, ferrous or non-ferrous metal that can be purchased in a solid form.
WHAT QUANTITIES DO YOU TYPICALLY WORK WITH?
Clinkenbeard specializes in rapid delivery of small quantities — typically between 1 and 100 pcs. We can provide a bridge to production by supplying larger quantities as production ramps up, or to feed the pipeline as your production source develops their process. Our sister company, M2M Machining, may be able to support your production needs (depending upon the geometry and production quantity). Please call to discuss your needs.
WHAT IS YOUR TYPICAL TURNAROUND TIME?
Typical turnaround for machined metal castings is 3 to 5 weeks in small quantities. We can improve this turnaround in many cases. Please call to discuss your needs. Typical turnaround for parts made from solid stock plastic or metal depends upon the complexity, geometry, and associated tolerances. Typical turnaround can range from 2 days to 3 weeks depending upon these variables.
CAN YOU PROVIDE AN INSPECTION REPORT WITH PARTS?
We have a full service quality department which can do logged dimensional layouts on raw castings, machined castings, and machined parts from solid stock. We have a CMM and gauges are calibrated on a regular basis per our quality system requirements.
CAN YOU PAINT, ANODIZE, POWDER COAT PARTS?
Our in-house paint shop can paint parts, including show quality finish for mockups. We can also provide a wide range of coatings. Please call to discuss your needs.
HOW DO YOU TYPICALLY SHIP PARTS?
We typically ship packages which weigh less than 100 lbs on FedEx or UPS. We can ship heavier packages and pallets on UPS Freight, FedEx Freight, or the carrier of your choice freight collect. Large packages and pallets can be sent airfreight using a variety of carriers. We strive to work with the carrier you prefer so that the customer can take advantage of negotiated discounts. We can schedule door to door carriers and to hand deliver critical items.
