Clinkenbeard Attends National Business Aviation Association Show in Atlanta
(ATLANTA) -- Exhibiting at the National Business Aviation Association’s annual show in Atlanta October 19-21 was the first order of business for the newly formed Rockford (Illinois) Area Aerospace Network, an association of Rockford-area aerospace suppliers formed by the Rockford Area Economic Development Council.
The mission of the new group, according to Eric Voyles, Vice President of National Business Development for the RAEDC, is to gain more high-paying aerospace jobs and improve business opportunities for aerospace suppliers in the region.
Chairperson of the aerospace cluster Jeff Kaney, president of the Kaney Group, Rockford, Illinois, said, “Our goal is to dramatically increase the number of high-paying jobs in the aerospace sector. We can do this because the Rockford Region is very good at aerospace. We have the critical mass of companies and infrastructure they need.”
Comprising the Rockford delegation attending the NBAA Show were the Rockford Area companies and organizations Chem Processing, Clinkenbeard, Ingenium Technologies, Kaney Aerospace, RAEDC, Energy Dynamics, and Greater Rockford Airport; Balanced IT Solutions of South Beloit, Illinois; Midwest Aero Support of Machesney Park, Illinois; and representatives of the US Department of Transportation, Department of Aeronautics.
Voyles reported he was able to visit with representatives from Ardekin Precision, B/E Aerospace, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, ENSCO, Esterline, GE Aviation, Kaney Aerospace, Skandia, Unison Industries, and several other companies.
“I said ‘thank you for your business’ and we asked for the opportunity to do more,” Voyles said. “I also had a walk-up to our booth that is now becoming an attractive new business opportunity for our region. We’ll keep everyone informed as negotiations proceed.”“This is the U.S. equivalent of the Farnborough and Paris Air Shows at which the RAEDC exhibited, thanks to the generosity of the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity and our local representative Jeff Polsean,” Kaney added.
One of the companies making up the Rockford delegation was Clinkenbeard, a Rockford-based rapid prototyping and manufacturing company that serves the worldwide aerospace and aviation markets.
Ron Jr. (Reg) Gustafson, program manager for Clinkenbeard, said, “We are very proud and happy to be a part of the sustained and vigorous efforts of the Rockford Aerospace Cluster and RAEDC. Our presence here reinforces our position as a viable and growing aerospace cluster that can match any other in the country.
“We’ve had some very good discussions with aircraft and aerospace manufacturers, both large and small, and will be following up with them immediately. We have some promising leads.”
